Inspection and Repair Proposal:

Full Sail Marine (FSM) was requested to provide an inspection and proposal for the installation of a Family Splash Pool on Dream.
The initial inspection revealed the need to design a new Family Splash Pool to be accommodated in the same area where the existing whirlpools existed while adapting the current piping and water treatment system to meet USPH rulings.

Dry-dock Project Maintenance

Project execution took place during the vessel’s Dry-docking period at the Damen Brest Shipyard in September 2024.
Completed scope of work included the demolition of existing whirlpools, deck surface treatment, fabrication and installation of a new 12-meter stainless steel Family Splash Pool structure, installation of a new shower stall with curved glass, new teakwood balustrade divider, and adaptation of existing piping configuration to accept a new UV Treatment Plant as well as new filtering and circulation pumps.

Project Summary

In September 2024, Skyward, a division of Full Sail Marine (FSM), undertook the installation of a new Family Splash Pool onboard the Disney Cruise Lines vessel Disney Dream during its dry-dock period in Brest, France. Disney’s Technical Operations Manager requested the conversion from existing whirlpools to a new Splash Pool to better address the enhancement of the recreational facilities onboard the vessel.

FSM’s scope of work involved the design, fabrication, and onboard installation of the pool structure, perimeter steps, glass wall frames, handrails, shower stall frames, and balustrade frames. Detailed inspections and preparations led to the removal of the existing whirlpool and related plumbing, site preparation for new installations, and subsequent installation of new systems. This included welding, installing glass panes, and connecting systems for water treatment and circulation.

The project aimed to install a new, fully functional Family Splash Pool, ensuring new recreational amenities for the client’s passengers. The completed installation significantly enhanced the ship’s recreational facilities, ensuring continued passenger satisfaction and enjoyment.
