Project Summary

In November 2023, Skyward, a division of Full Sail Marine (FSM), undertook a significant maintenance and repair project for Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Freedom during its drydock period in Cadiz, Spain. The maintenance was requested by Michael Upton, Director of Hotel, Open Deck & Attractions, to address critical issues found in the window washing system and related support railings.

FSM’s scope of work involved thoroughly inspecting and repairing the gondola support railings, which revealed extensive corrosion and deterioration. Detailed inspections led to a comprehensive overhaul of DK 6 Port and Starboard units, including replacing worn components and applying protective coatings. For DK 10, both port and starboard units received extensive refurbishments to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

The project aimed to restore the equipment to its optimal condition, address structural issues, and prevent future degradation. The completed maintenance significantly enhanced the safety and functionality of the window washing system, ensuring continued reliable performance for Carnival Freedom.
